I think he will definitely retire from top level fide rated chess in his late 30's or around 40 like garry. I could see him playing online and maybe other more casual formats after that, though. Not playing grand chess tour. It has always been a tradition for carlsen to play gct every year when there's no world championship. He has done this for last 8 years.
